Born Innocent
24″ X 24″
Oil and Encaustic

This painting evolved in an interesting way for me. I saw this photograph and loved it and had to paint it. While it was in the early stages of the underpainting with oils, a friend saw it and asked if I knew about Marilyn Manson. I asked her to wait to tell me his story until the painting was done so it wouldn’t contaminate my inspiration.

This piece was chosen for a juried show at the Athenaeum in La Jolla and was hung high above another piece. On opening night, the local newspaper reporter heard a guest remark that it looked like a pensive housewife. I had to laugh having already done my homework on him and what his life is like. Still love it!
